Senior Mechanical Design & Production Engineer

OGM has a vacancy for a Senior Mechanical Design & Production Engineer responsible for the Design for Manufacture (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) stages of the Products and Technologies stages by strictly following the PCP and other available procedures – particularly ECO.

Main duties & responsibilities

  • Participate as a resource in the design and analysis stages of product, as required by the Function Engineer and the R&D Manager – PCP Stage 0 (New Ideas)-Stage 3 (Investigation & Feasibility).
  • Inform and liaise your colleagues according job function particularly to the function manager
  • Agree on the transition and take Complete Design Authority for PCP between Stage 4 (Implement)-Stage 6 (Launch) – particularly by:
    • Creating Comprehensive Design Documentation – through approved drawings, final product specifications, quality controls, BoMs, identifying the Design & Analysis (D&A) work  (experimental data etc.) that is useful for final design and production
    • Developing Product Test Specification – using the development/innovation data that is developed at the D&A stage and by comparing and making sure it is in accordance with the Product Requirement Specification (PRS)
    • Interfacing with the Production/Assembly Process – by taking full design authority via the standard check/approval process and signing off drawings for production, taking an active role to support and answer any queries by the Production Engineers
    • Leading/organising Product Test & Report – by including all results from the tests prescribed by the Product Test Specification in order to demonstrate that the product meets all the requirements of the PRS.  The testing and compilation of the report must be placed for the R&D Manager’s approval and must be in compliance for the named standards (API/IP/EI/ISO)
    • Creating the Technical Documentations – including Operator Reference Guide, Operator Pocket Book, Quick Guide, as well as Operations, Service and Maintenance Manual and Installation Instruction.  Documents will be first validated and approved in English and can be translated by professionals to other languages
    • Creating Validation and Launch Plan – involving those responsible for Production & Services, as well as Marketing & Sales part of the business
  • Carry out design and development with emphasis on 3D Digital Prototyping, carrying out parametric analysis and dynamic simulations – including FEA analysis when appropriate
  • Responsibility for production of Bill of Materials (BoM)
  • Lead, mentor and develop other Design Engineers
  • Assist the R&D Manager as required.
